2009 Cambrian Rally |
| The final round of the 2009 BTRDA Rally Series had the added bonus of a couple of WRC and PWRC regulars tackling the five forest gravel stages in North Wales as preparation for this coming weekend's Wales Rally GB. Current World Rally Championship leader Mikko Hirvonen was driving the zero car, a full works Ford Focus WRC, setting target times for the main field of competitors which included Mads Østberg, Nasser Al-Attiyah and Eyvind Brynildsen. The great autumn weather made for a very enjoyable day out with the camera, and it was nice to get to at least one rally this year. Very impressed by Andy Burton's monster of a car, the sound it makes is incredible and it could be heard for a long time before and after it was in view. Unfortunately he retired from the event on SS4 with engine problems so I didn't get to see the car again on the final stage. |
